Lighting is the new florals
Couples in 2026 are spending less on flowers and more on lighting. Bistro string lights, taper candles, lantern aisles, and uplit trees create more atmosphere than any centerpiece — and photograph better.
Ceremony arches go architectural
Heavy floral installations are giving way to clean wooden pergolas with a single asymmetric floral spray. Easier on the florist budget, harder to look dated.

More couples are skipping a late-night dance set and migrating the reception to a fire pit at 10pm — s'mores bar, acoustic music, stargazing. It's the part everyone remembers.

Always have a rain plan
A rain plan isn't pessimism — it's professionalism. Tented backup or covered pavilion options should be locked in by the rehearsal. Any venue that doesn't talk about a rain plan upfront is a red flag.
Weather windows that work in Missouri
Late April through mid-June, and mid-September through late October. Summer ceremonies should start at 6pm or later to avoid heat. Winter weddings in Missouri are increasingly popular and dramatically cheaper.
